How the Sales Gift Cards Screen Works

Gift card sales can be completed using the 4th tab on the left side of the sales screen.

There are only two options here: sell a new gift card, or reload an existing gift card.

When New Gift Card is selected, users will see the New Gift Card dialog, where they can manually enter, or scan, a gift card barcode and select an amount for the gift card.

Clicking “validate” here will check the card number, and inform the user if the number is a valid gift card number. They will also see $0.00 as the balance since it is a new gift card.

Note: If the gift card barcode was scanned, the Validate button will be automatically clicked. The user will only have to click this button manually if the card number was entered manually.

If it is not a valid number, users will see an “Invalid Barcode” message.

If the gift card number is valid, but already exists, users will see a “Use Card” button, that will direct them to the Reload Gift Card dialog, instead of selling a new gift card.

If Reload gift card was selected from the sales screen, users will see the Reload Gift Card dialog.

This is also the dialog that would be seen if the user was redirected after entering an existing card number in the New Gift Card dialog, as mentioned previously.

This dialog works similarly to the New Gift Card dialog, but instead of a Validate button, there is a Lookup button.

When clicked, the user will see if the card is valid, and if so, they will be able to see the current amount.

Whether selling a new gift card, or reloading an existing one, users can select one of the preset amount buttons, or set a custom amount to add to the gift card.

Selecting “Enter Amount” here will pull up an amount dialog for users to enter the desired gift card amount.

Once a gift card has been validated and an amount has been set, users will be able to see the gift card amounts in the bottom right of the Dialog, and the Add to Cart button will be enabled.

The gift card will be shown in the cart with the amount being added, and if it is a reload sale, the new balance.

If this is a new gift card sale, the new balance will not be shown.
