How to add a service credit or debit

If a record needs to have the length of service adjusted users should use the service credits option to add or remove years of service. This will allow users to easily see exactly why an officer's adjusted service date is different than their commissioning date.

Step-by-step guide

Follow these steps to apply service credits:

  1. Load the person record

  2. Click on the "Service Dates" menu option

  3. Click on the "Manage Credits" link

  4. Select a "Credit Type", i.e.: "Broken Service"

    1. Each credit type will impact service time differently, refer to the related article for more information

  5. Enter the "Effective Date"

    1. The Effective Date should be used to define when the credits should apply, which is typically the end date of the credit range.

  6. Enter an amount, ONE of two options

    1. "Date Range" will calculate the time between two dates, OR

    2. "Date Values" will allow the user to enter an exact amount of time

  7. Optionally, users can choose to apply the credit details to a spouse or add comments

  8. Click "Save"

  9. The service credits are applied to the person record

  • The Effective Date should be used to define when the credits should apply, which is typically the end date of the credit range.

  • The Effective Date is also used to determine when to apply a YMD credit value that doesn’t have a date range.
