Where the framework for all Symphony sites is defined & sites are created.

Syndication

Syndication is the process by which a Conductor user pushes content to a group of local sites.

This is done by clicking the Syndication button on the far-right of the edit actions. If the content has already been syndicated, the number of sites that have been syndicated to will be shown instead of the syndicate icon:

When the syndicate button is clicked, the syndication window pops up. Divisions that have been syndicated to will appear red and when opened, show which site types have been syndicated to with checkboxes:

To Syndicate to new site types or remove syndicated content from sites, just check or un-check the checkbox next to that site type.

Share with DHQ

If a conductor instance is configured to use the DHQ Conductors feature, syndication from THQ is not directly allowed. Instead, the syndication window will show "Share with DHQ" in place of the usual site type checkboxes:

After an asset has been shared with DHQ, the DHQ conductor can log in and decide which site types they would like to syndicate to within their division.

Property Builders & Sections

Theater Manager

Same as Local Sites Theater Space

Conductors also have the ability to use Custom HTML when creating theater slides:

Seed Content

Seed content is the default data that is used when creating a site. The intent behind Seed Content is that if the Local Admin never edits the site, it will still be able to provide meaningful information to visitors.

Currently Seed Content is just a JSON blob of data, so typically we'll have the user create an example site the way they want, and we'll pull the data from that site to make the seed content. Typically, this will only ever need to happen once – when a new Conductor instance is created.

Ways to Give

Same as Local Sites Ways to Give Grid

Stories

Same as Local Sites Stories

Media Library

This is where Branded Content is set up. Images are uploaded here to be used in the local sites. Images are uploaded per space, and include recommended sizes.

Header & Footer

This is where extra HTML can be added to the header and footer of all sites & pages that are under the umbrella of the conductor instance.

Giving Toolbar

Giving Toolbar Manager

This is where the global style & html for the Giving Toolbar is set.

Sites Manager

This is where the site-specific configurations for the Giving Toolbar are set.

Invest in this Community URL

The site's specific donation URL. If nothing is provided, it defaults to the national donation url.

Hear More from this Community Survey ID

This has been abrogated and should be removed from the UI.

Start a Fundraiser URL

This has been abrogated and should be removed from the UI.

Alerts

Alerts show up for a limited time when a visiter views the site. They can be used to draw attention to national crises or natural disasters.

Sites

This is where sites are created and managed. When the page is loaded and the sites are processed they will become available for management, broken down by Division.

Buttons / Actions

Refresh GDOS Data

To improve performance, when sites are loaded from GDOS, the results are cached locally in your browser. If for any reason your site list isn't loading correctly try refreshing your GDOS data.

Reload Site List

This simply reloads the list of sites in your view. It has mostly the same effect as refreshing the page.

Refresh Metro Sites Locations

To improve performance, when sites are loaded from GDOS, the results are cached locally in your browser. The results are also cached in the database per division to be used by the Metro Area Sites Local Sites list. If address changes are made to GDOS you can click this button to refresh that data so that the new address information is available in the metro area site list.

Create a New Site

See Site Creation below.

Site Creation

To create a site, click the "Create a New Site" button in the upper-right corner:

Fill in all the fields:

Site Deletion

  1. Login to the site that needs to be deleted: http://webmanager.salvationarmy.org/site_title/admin
  2. Append /media_subscriptions to the end of the URL:
    https://webmanager.salvationarmy.org/site_title/admin/media_subscriptions
Note that this page will show the old WebManager layout, even though it’s a Symphony site. This is expected behavior.
  3. Remove the subscription to USW Conductor by clicking on it and then “Remove Subscription”
  4. On the right hand side of this view, click on “Mapped Domains”. Write down the domains that are mapped to this site.
  5. Visit the Management portal for Domain Mapping at:
    https://webmanager.salvationarmy.org/management/url
Remove the mapping(s) for this site by searching for the subdomain associated with it.
  6. Visit the Management portal for Site Management at:
    https://webmanager.salvationarmy.org/management/sites/display
Search for the site by site_title and then click on “Delete”. The list of sites should refresh and the site you’ve deleted should no longer appear.

*If you don't have access to https://webmanager.salvationarmy.org/management and you need to delete a site, contact your THQ Conductor or reach out to support@devnext.net for assistance.

DHQ Conductors

DHQ Conductor is a limited role within Conductor. They can only be defined by THQ Conductors.

Their scope is limited to their own division and mostly syndication-related actions. Here's an example of what a DHQ Conductor would see:

To set up a DHQ Conductor, click the appropriate link, click "Add User", and search for the user:

You can also remove DHQ Conductors by clicking the trash can icon next to their name in the list.

Check here for DHQ Conductor Syndication information.

Help Content

This is where admin help video URLs are specified. They are referenced throughout the local site admin.

Social Media

This is where the default social media urls and tags are defined. They will be used as defaults for local sites until they are overwritten by the local admins.

Admin Notifications

Admin Notifications show up for a limited time when an administrator logs in to edit the site. They can be used to draw attention to new functionality or territory-wide campaigns.

Analytics

This is where the Analytics for every site under the conductor's scope is set up. The Tealium Tag section is for the script provided by The Richards Group, and the Territorial Analytics section is for your own, territory-wide analytics script.
